The Parasolka Charity Foundation was founded in 2017 on the initiative of doctor Irina Loseva. She constantly visited children’s hospitals in the Zaporizhzhia region. She was very saddened by the conditions in which children often lived.
That is why the first big thing that started the history of Parasolka was a project initiated by Anton Karnaukh, to raise funds to renovate a ward for newborn orphans in the pediatric department of the Vasylivka District Hospital. Thanks to the efforts of hundreds of caring people, the room where newborns abandoned by their parents live for months was completely renovated and equipped.
The Parasolka Charity Foundation cooperates with the Zatyshna Domivka social support centre for children and families and provides assistance to orphans and children deprived of parental care, aged 18 to 23, who find themselves in difficult life circumstances and are temporarily placed in the centre.
Irina Loseva, the founder and inspiration behind the foundation, has been a member of the jury for the Best Foster Carer of the Year competition for several years. The aim of this competition is to support foster and adoptive families, family-type orphanages, unlock parental and pedagogical potential, organise joint leisure activities, and establish an emotional bond between parents and children.
As the foundation grew, the number of people who needed our support increased. These included families with children with disabilities, low-income families with many children, people with complex illnesses, elderly carers of children and others.
When the war came to Ukraine, the circle of our support expanded significantly, as we had to support the Ukrainian military and families affected by the war.
